One of the famous tourist destinations in the Philippines is Boracay. It was in June 2009 when Annette (BFF in Bahrain) announced her vacation to Philippines with her children. Incidentally, Mhita was also in the country at that time.
We planned to meet in Bora...purchased our tickets - Clark to Caticlan. I brought my parents with me as a treat for their wedding anniversary. It was the first plane ride of my parents and i could say a mixed feeling of excitement and fear from the ride. Apparently, there was a problem in Caticlan Airport and all flights are diverted to Kalibo. Mhita and her sister traveled all the way from Laguna to Capas to take the same flight from Clark and the night before our flight, got a call from the Airline saying that Clark flight is cancelled and the option is to take a flight in Manila. Without any other option, we left Capas early morning to take the 2nd flight from Manila to Kalibo. It was raining heavily in Manila when we left and arrived on a sunny morning in Kalibo.
From Kalibo, the airline provided a van to take us to Caticlan. From there, we took a ferry for about 15minutes to take us to Boracay. We were met by Annette, Misue, Saleh and Faisal at D Mall and checked in at Station 2. They came to Bora a day earlier as they traveled from Cebu. It was evening time and our stomachs were already complaining...had dinner and walked by the station 2 which is opposite the famous White Beach.
The following day - it was a big day. We had our island hopping in the morning and went on a banana boat ride ... had lunch in one of the islands. We went back to white beach in the afternoon to experience the low tide at the shore...it was the best beach ever. The sand is very fine like a powder / pulvuron....loved playing with it.
On our third day in Bora, bought souvenirs in the market and planned for our next trip in Cebu in the coming weeks. Annette invited us to visit their hometown. Such a blessing for another trip in two weeks time.
Bora...bora...boracay.. I will come back....
